XXV James Joyce

Lightly come or lightly go:
Though thy heart presage thee woe,
Vales and many a wasted sun,
Oread let thy laughter run,
Till the irreverent mountain air
Ripple all thy flying hair.

Lightly, lightly -- - ever so:
Clouds that wrap the vales below
At the hour of evenstar
Lowliest attendants are;
Love and laughter song-confessed
When the heart is heaviest.

Ulysses "Art has to reveal..."

-All these questions are purely academic, Russell oracled out his shadow.  I mean, whether Hamlet is Shakespeare or James I or Essex.  Clergymen's discussions of the historicity of Jesus.  Art has to reveal to us ideas, formless spiritual essences.  The supreme question about a work of art is out of how deep a life does it spring.  The painting of Gustave Moreau is the painting of ideas.  The deepest poetry of Shelley, the words of Hamlet bring our mind into contact with the eternal wisdom, Plato's world of ideas.  All the rest is speculation of schoolboys for schoolboys.

One Day Soon

The band of the summer is Brooklyn's Luluc, with a new release on Sub Pop, their second, Passerby.  There's a lot of passing candy in any artistic medium, but I think the simple sound structure and solid, tangible words stick. Relieving lyrics to anyone who seeks substance.
